She wrote this in response to George Orwell’s essay “Why I Write.” I was very impressed with “ Sight” by Jessie Greengrass, which is a novel that reads like a memoir. She was born in South Africa and ended up in London. I also read Deborah Levy’s memoir “ Things I Don’t Want to Know.” That’s the first in her trilogy of what she calls her living autobiography.
